Your quote is set by the square feet of grass we measure: the $49 minimum up to 10,000 square feet, a little more for every 10,000 past it, and by the acre on the biggest lawns. Every other week is 20% more a visit, and a single cut 50% more. A 0.4-acre lot in an older neighbourhood, with a house, a garage, a drive and mature trees, can hold less grass than a quarter-acre lot on the edge of the county. Pricing the lot would overcharge it.
A lawn that has got away from you is quoted as an overgrown first cut before we start (Get your number). From the second visit you are on your normal rate.

The season runs April through October, and growth is not even across it. From mid-April to mid-June a Vigo County lawn can need cutting every week; in July and August cool-season grass slows down. Purdue's advice is blunt: "Some lawns may need mowing twice a week during spring and fall and only once every 2 weeks during summer."
We cut high, because most lawns in this town are cut too short: 3 to 4 inches, raised in summer when the yard needs it, and never more than a third of the blade at once. Tall fescue, the most common grass here, does best at 2.5 to 4 inches.
What the city expects
Terre Haute makes grass over 8 inches a violation (Sec. 6-170) and requires at least four cuts between May 1 and October 31. You are also responsible for the strip between your property line and the street, and for your half of any alley behind you (Sec. 6-160). We mow the tree lawn and the alley strip as part of every visit, at no extra charge.

How much does lawn mowing cost in Terre Haute?

Is weekly or every other week better?
Weekly, from April through June, for almost every lawn here. Every other week works in July and August, or all year for a thin lawn with no irrigation. It costs 20% more per visit, because each cut removes two weeks of growth.
What happens when it rains on my day?
We work to stay on schedule, and a rain day can push your visit back a day. We do not mow saturated ground: on wet Wabash Valley soil a mower leaves ruts that last all season.

Do you mow rentals for owners who live out of town?
Yes. We bill the owner, and access questions go to whoever you name.
