We hire seasonal crew in Terre Haute every spring, and again every October for holiday lighting. Most roles need no experience: we teach the equipment.

The work

You unload, mow, trim the fence lines and trees, edge the walk, blow every hard surface clean, load up and drive to the next one. The mowing is the easy part. The trimming and the blow-off are where a yard is won or lost.

It is outside, in Indiana, early: humid by breakfast in June, frost on the trailer ramp in late October. You will lift a trimmer and a backpack blower all day and hand-carry equipment through narrow gates. A typical day runs 7am to 5pm.

The roles

Start here

  • Crew member. Mow, trim, edge, blow. $17.50 an hour.
  • Holiday lighting installer, October to January. Ladder work on rooflines, in the cold. $17.50 an hour, $23 as a crew lead.
  • Landscape install and cleanups, when the season calls for it.

Where it leads

  • Crew lead. Runs a truck and a route, and owns the quality on every stop. $23 an hour.
  • Turf technician. Applies fertilizer and weed control. Needs an Indiana licence from the Office of Indiana State Chemist, a credential that stays with you. We pay for the registered technician training and the exam.

The year

WhenWhat is running
Late March to mid AprilSpring cleanups, first cuts
Mid April to late JunePeak mowing, the longest weeks
July and AugustMowing slows; landscape installs fill days
Late August to OctoberAeration and overseeding, fertilization rounds, the last cuts
Mid October to DecemberHoliday lighting installs
JanuaryLighting takedown
February to mid MarchThe quiet stretch

Mowing season into lights season is the path to most of the year. If you are at Indiana State or Ivy Tech and want May through August, that is our busiest stretch.

What we ask, and what you get

We ask

  • Show up on time, every scheduled day
  • Be 16 or older
  • Hold a valid driver's licence
  • Stay drug-free: it is a condition of the job. We check your driving licence, and there is no background check

You get

  • $17.50 an hour on a crew, $23 as a crew lead, paid weekly by direct deposit
  • A W-2 job on payroll, not contract work
  • 40 to 45 hours a week in peak season, with overtime paid
  • Uniforms, provided
  • Training on equipment you have probably never run
  • Owners who started on a push mower themselves

This is seasonal outdoor work in Indiana. Not every role has year-round hours, and February is quiet.

How to apply

A name and a number is all the form needs. No resume. We call you back and ask the rest on the phone.

We will ring you. Usually the same day.

Optional. Equipment you have run, when you can start, whether you drive.

Optional.

We hire through the season, not in one window. Apply in June when we are full and you are first in line for the October lighting crews.
